About Me

555456_10100247834115851_2058319415_nMy name is Daniel Hollands and I am a Mechanical Engineer who works within the research and development department for a medical device company in Ashford, Kent. I have had experience in designing products from concept to manufacture, including complex injection moulding design as well as sheet metal and 3D printing technologies.

My biggest passion in life is sailing and I have been doing this since 2001. I have sailed many classes of boat during this time including: B14, International 14, Laser 3000 and many others. I currently sail B14 at World Championship level having competed at World and European Championships at Carnac and Plerin in France. In addition, I currently sail a Laser One at club level, having now sold my Contender, and last year my Fiancée and I bought a Tasar to sail together as we had refurbished and quickly outgrew our National 12 (Baggy Trousers design).

I believe that my career choice fits well with this hobby as I can apply my knowledge of engineering to enable me to design and repair boats and their components.
I am in the process of building a Farr 3.7 (a New Zealand designed boat). The build is on hold at the moment as buying a house and planning a Wedding has got in the way a bit, but I hope to continue with it in the near future.
